Long Distance spoon casting is something I've been doing my whole life.
You've got to be familiar with your kit:- rod, reel, line, etc
Lures have to be aerodynamic like the bullet lure you mentioned,....but they got to swim good, so you've got to master your reel and the design technique of the rods characterized to throw and control the swimming of the lure. At the most, you want the fish to eat the lure that throws the distance.
If the wind blows, either with or against you, you need to select accordingly to either float in the wind, or drive through it! You got to get good at this, because fish feed in bad weather!
Length and weight of rod is very important as is knowing your local spot, long rods are at a disadvantage into the wind. Action on your lure is the most important, tip action, is everything. It's no good you can throw 150M and your lure don't swim. The rod has to be able to flash the lure, the reel has to be able to take up the slack caused by the wind when the fish strikes and so on.
These techniques are as old as time, and merely having an expensive reel is not going to guarantee you good results.
My best advise is, become somebodies apprentice, because spooning is an art!
