Clever idea to put it like that! Charging it is going to be much easier this way. Just make sure that hatch is water tight, sea water on a battery is BAD!

Overall, this is some good work! Have you tried it out yet?

Going to try it out this weekend. I mostly fish in fresh water systems thus not too worried about saltwater damage.

The sealed batteries can be used in any position, thus the vertical mount also not a problem.

Unless you planning to try sink your kayak though you probably going to have a hard time trying to get water inside a sealed hatch.

I like it, quick and easy to access. All you have to do is unscrew a hatch and you can charge the battery.
