Battery Chargers

Those are very cool batteries - I looked at them a while back they have excellent holding capacity and don't run down as quickly as conventional lead calcium batteries - thanks DR.Proffessor - nice sponsor

Hi Guys. I can get a Hawkins 36v Charger from a mate. This would be able to charge 3 batteries in the same time a 12v will do one. The only downside is I always have to charge 3 at a time! What do you guys think? 36v or 12v??????

Carlo, I would not charge the Willards and Deltecs together, so I'd say 12V, and I know it's a schlep. The best would be a 12/24V combination charger. Charge the Deltec on 12V and then the two Willards linked on 24V... but I aint no sparky so if someone pipes up here and says I'm an idiot they are probably right ;)

I would go 12 - 24v how often do you need to charge your cranking battery - for me I charge it every 3 trip just for my own concience - but I know others that have never charged their cranking batteries.......My humble 2 C

Holy smokes - silly question - why 4 batteries?
Can you not get a 24v charger then you can carge 2 batteries at a time.
How many amps is the 12v charger compared to the 36v charger? Something sound fishy....

He's a mate of mine so there's def nothing fishy. He uses them to charge forklift batteries!
I got 2 willards that don't last too long i think they 65ah and the 105ah deltec! If i go to the dam for 2 days I only just have enough power from the 3!

Sorry bud I meant how many AMPS are the chargers - not the batteries - they are normally measured as amp hour (AH)

Firstly a deep cycle deltec battery is not a lead acid battery. Its a sealed calcium battery that doesn't charge the same as lead acid. the way u are charging ur battery WILL reduce its life and won't be charging the battery to its full capacity. Another thing u must know is that u must never leave the battery uncharged for a long time as the de energised plates start to oxidise thus causing the battery to loose life \ hold its charge. And lastly never leave cheapo charger connected to the bat. U could have a nasty leak or explosion on your hands. Just trying to help Mate! U may as well carry on using ur cheapo charger but when u need a new battery invest in a multi stage intelligent charger, that can be left charging inevitably.
