Fished the Vaal dam on Friday and Saturday. I caught 3 bass on friday, they where about 1.2kg each. I actually think I caught the same fooshie 3 times... LOL!! Oh and I forgot my camera in the car. Caught all 3 by deadsticking on babybass finesse worms late afternoon. I cast the wormy right against the pumphouse wall and let it sink to the bottom. Had a lot of problems with the crabs. I also caught a barber on a thick black culprit worm, I got from bass lover last week. But the line broke while I was trying to get it out of the water.
On Saturday morning I caught nothing. Probably because I had a hangover from friday night. At about lunch time I went out again and caught a misformed little rat on a mepp spinner. I think it was underfed, as it also has a big head and a small body. Then the wind came up like crazy and I had to go back to shore for the rest of the day.

That's actually pretty good!! Congrats, from what I heard just getting three fish there regardless of size is an achievement.
Have never fished the Vaal dam before (for bass) but I recon it will be fun to see what comes out at the ESA.
Might be going there next weekend just to have a look.

Next time when I go, i'll want to fish more inside the bay in between the sailing boats. I wanted to go nearer but the wind was a major factor on the tube. I personally think that pump house was the best structure I could of wished for. The workers at the pumphouse told me that they usually catch bass there early summer - flystyle with brownbread. But only under 500g.
