I would really recommend the Daiwa Sol baitcaster and Daiwa Sol baitcaster Rod for finness and waitless fishing, if you can get it. Its an amazing combo, looks great, fishes like a dream, but its a bit pricy!

When buying a baitcaster for the first time, i'll recommend one of about 700 to 800 bucks, one with more than 3 bearings. Practice with it before hitting the water. Dont spend to much on the rod, about R350 is enough, I would say, to begin with.

A setup like this will last you longer and up your fishing experience!!!!

i have heard alot about the passionstick and there seem to be a lot of guys that like it
Except me, bought one and snapped it in half on a little mouse of no more than 250g's at bass lake a month or so ago.  Then spoke to a tacklestore owner close to mi casa, and he said that he's did the same at exactly the same place as did another customer's..... so I' stick to my Quantum's thank you very much, that goes for the reels too.....

Having said this, I held a Abu baitcaster in my hands yesterday with 11 bearings and man that was a wrong thing to do, this reel is haunting me now....... btw it was the small brother of the series and it sold for R1650......

I agree with spending more money on the rod but remember that if you have a shaity reel it's gonna cheese you off with every cast sorting out the line and not getting distance etc, so you'll be so irritated that the expensive rod with all the sensitivity won't mean squat.....

get proper gear before spending alot more money on cheaper gear (all the while a little more expensive each time) till you get to the rod and reel setup that just feels great and does what you want, making each trip worth the money you've spent on it.......

Its from a local store here in Pretoria.

I feel sorry for the guys who does not have a decent shop to buy their tackle from.

Internet would be your best bet then.

Was that the SX LGF?

I have the STX's and I'll never buy another reel in my life.

Biggie, I'll have to lie to you if I have to answer that Q, but it had the black body with the word ambasadeur printed just below the line feed on the front, the guy said that he didn't have the top one in stock, oh and it had 11 bearings, felt gr8 and oh so smooth, he also mentioned that it had a 4000 drag if i remember correctly....

I'm not dissing my PT Energy's but another GR8 reel wouldn't hurt, well my pocket at first and then the left side of my face as my Babe is right handed but other than that I think it's worth it.....::S

Just confirming that it was the SX, went there again today to just hold it for a while, and I must admit that on the 7ft tica it's a real sweet combo, real sweet.

BTW the only diffs between the SX and the STX other than the price is the drag which for the SX is comparable to the sl20 and the SRX the sl25.
