Hi Guys, Yes I think that is what I need to do. I was out yesterday (whole day) and did not even get a bite :(

bud the reason you need to do this is purely to get to the point where it comes down to monkey see monkey do, no offense, pun etc intended, just a matter of speech.  what i mean is that we can all advise you to retrieve it slow but what speed would that mean to you, twitch the bait, dead-stick it, seriously if you wanna improve your fishing then get our with some-one quick and as many times as you can, also go with different blokes and you'll quickly pick up a huge well of experience and first hand knowledge.....

Scalci, get a fishing partner, who can show you the ropes, someone thats been fishing for a while and read, read, read and read throught all the posts here.....

did i mention that you should read.....

great start, keep up with that but don't forget that nothing beats learning the practical way by casting a line into the water, just be careful of the information overload, cause when you get to the water you'll struggle to remember it all, my advise is read up on something then go out and try that, then read up on something else and go and try that again, and so forth.....

Also, very important.

Test your lures, it is important to know how every lure work and what action it has.

A swimming pool is ideal

and good idea to practise pitching and accurate casting at home when you cant go fish
I use the bucket method, place a bucket somewhere in the yard and try and cast into it..... trying all the techniques..... a lot o fun, wfie and neighbours look at you like you should be institutionalised but what the heck, it beats sitting on the couch, and you can only repack your boxes of lures so many times.....:clow
