Greetings Scalci, tackle is a very personal choice, and it is very difficult to advise on rods and reels without knowing what type of bassin' you intend to do. The best advice I can offer is that you should buy the the best tackle that you can afford. Bass tackle is no good when it is cheap, if you are only going to fish bass now and then, have a look at the sensation range of rods, they are good value for money, and a fair product. For advice on lure selection, see "finding the pattern" on this site. Sorry, not very helpful, if you give some more detail, like how much you want to spend and what type of bass fishing you would like to do, it will be easier to help you dude.

Hey man, this is what I started with:

6ft okuma finchaser combo
3 types of worms
4/0 worm hooks (I think)
All this fits nicely into a small utility type tackle box.

I had so much fun with that setup and choice of lures and caught alot of bass. Seriuosly you dont have to spend much on tackle. I would add 2 spinnerbaits and 2 rapalas if I were you. Please note that i am no expert at bass fishing, im just saying that you can go budget and still catch a heap of fish

Thx Guys so far.

All I want to do is fish for fun, I do fly fishing (salt & Fresh) and offshore salt fishing. ut I dont know Bsaa at all and thought it is now time to start :)

I am thinking to spend about R1500 to start, now I am not sure if this is way under or so. but if I can come away with less that will be cool.

On the lures, I need to learn a lot, I have no idea what all the names etc means...

Right, now we have somewhere to start!!::SWARNING: Bass fishing is addictive, once you start it is difficult to stop. Here is my suggestion. Please don't tell my sponsors^^..

ROD: 7ft Sensation Passion Stick MH  ( R375)

REEL: Banax Zest (R400)

LINE:  Trilene Big Game 12lb  (R100)

HOOKS: Trojan 3/0 extra wide gap x2packs (R30)

SINKERS: Trojan no.1 mojo x2packs (R20)

GUMMIES: x2packs (R10)

SUPERFLUKES: x2packs 1xwatermelon candy,1xjunebug (R130)

YUM DINGERS: 4" x2 packs 1xwatermelon red, 1x green pumpkin (R100)

BRUSHOGS: x2 packs 1x watermelon candy, 1x watermelon (R130)

TOTAL: R1395-00

A total saving of R105 on your original estimate WOOOOOHOOOOO (don't worry, you WILL spend it!!!!)

I hope that this helps as a guideline, if you were to get serious, you need to understand that R1500 is probably not going to even get you a top end reel, so again...... beware the trap!! My dad has had a Banax Zest for 3 years, he fishes about 4 times a month, and has had no problems. So that is my basic guideline for a part time kit, now all that you have to do is post the pics!!!!:wfish:wfish

Try darker colour plastics. I know of a cast for cash that was won there 2 years back on black senko’s

Bud you need to get in touch with some of the old bassers here on SL, excluding me, i'm not old yet, i do look like it, but in all aspects i'm more child than grown-up...... no seriously, you need to go and spend some time fishing next to one of thye guys so that you can see what kind's of rigs, techniques, colours etc, etc is used to get these buggers out their hiding places, thats the best way to learn
