What do other boating enthusiasts use to prevent/limit barnacle growth on your boat when moored for long periods, and how do you remove it ?

Anti-fouling.

Thanks Bennie appreciate it. Do you (or any other members) have any experience with these products, ie are they effective?

You will still need to take the boat out once a year to clean. But it will clean much easier and it discourages growth. Yes, it is effective.

how the antifowling works as things grow on it it flakes off so you dont get the damage on your gelcoat

Speak to Dekro. If a vessel has not been anti-fouled before it takes a lot of preparation of the base coats before the final antifoul coats. Professional advice a must. The hull will remain cleaner but still takes work like getting in the water and rubbing off the slime etc with a sponge in betwen hauling out. Also depends where you moor. Most harbours have worse growth than the "natural" sea.
