Barbel (Catfish) in Germany

Hi guys,

some years I haven´t seen a barbel. But this year..... we caught very good. I don´t know why.

One of the fights I could get with my camera. Please excuse the quality, but it was only a normal digicam and not a camcorder.

Video 1 (The barbel was 1,14m and 10 Kilos) My friend could catch the fish on a very thin line (5lb).

I add a picture too.

Great catch ,  especially on the very light line. Did he specifically target the barbel on the light line and if so ,why only use 5 lb line.?

He fished for pike. It was at 2:00 o clock pm. Normally, you catch our catfish in the evening or at night. But not this fish. He took the small bait and the fight began.

A other friend of me (Wolfgang) fished last year the first time at the Ebro in Spain. And he could catch his first catfish.
