In the market for bait runner reels to pair with my Velocity 13ft . Don’t do a lot of bank angling so reels will be used on 3 trips a year max , so no point in going for the top of the range reels. So for my purpose what reels should I look at , will want to get away with the most cost effective option as reels will hardly be used.

I would opt for Shimano DL range but if you wanted to go even cheaper look at the Tica Sportera reels at Mias. Think they should be around the R500 mark. Very nice a solid reels for the money.

Hi there! Seeing as you want the most cost effective reels on the market, have a look at the okuma longbow II's. I know a couple of guys that fish with them and they are all more than happy with them.

for entry level - I would then rather settle on the Shimano ST 6000 OR 10000. Much more durable than the Okuma Long-bow II. I had the latter, and on the 8th outing a barbel stripped the gears on one of my reels. My 2c

Craig, does it have to be baitrunners? Lots of great coffee grinders out there at very reasonable prices compared to decent entry level Baitrunners. Baitrunner feature is bit overrated if you ask me. You still have to tighten the drag when casting and loosen it while playing the fish.
