Take a very small splitring, attatch this to a swivel, attatch a 2/0 hook to the splitring, attatch some piano wire to the hook eye, measure the length of a sard and attatch a 3to 5/0 hook so that the hook enters into the meat right at the tip of the tail, put the top hook from under the jaw and out the top jaw through the hard part between the eyes, the bottom hook through the tail, use very little cotton, sometimes you dont even need cotton at all. Make sure the bottom hook at the tail is proud .If the sard is too long you can cut the tail off so that the hook is right near the end, the shad will always bite the tail off the bait. Hope this makes sense.
