Backyard Fishing

Maybe it is "empty nest syndrome," that reminded me of our festive season fishing.

We had to cancell our trip to Angola due to unforseen circumstances but plan B dictated that we camp at Mile 4 and fish Mile 8 and south to Sandwich.

I was the official "bait catcher"

But sometimes I got more than bait

And sometimes the boys even allowed me to use heavier tackle.

Great fishing natural bait that the fish are feeding on still remains the best.

It's because you supplied the best and freshest baits that you got such beauts on.

Thanks Guys, it is terrible when you know the kids will only be home in July.

Enigma, the Sandies usually spawn on the sandbank, south of Mile 8, during January. When that happens then the Bronzies are close behind. Not even a Galjoen head will beat fresh Sandy gills or fillet during this time.

It is a wonderfull area to fish, because of a lack of structure, you always stand a good chance of landing your sharks.
It is a few kilometres south of the area where the guys are presently slaughtering the Cob. Sandwich is also a breeding area for Cob, but luckily it is closed to any fishing during February.
