baardman

At my local spot there seems to be a influx of baard at the moment but they seem to be quite elusive. what methods should be used in clear turbulent shallow water.
I tried today with sand prawns and got nailed by 2 stumps and a medium size steenie. I also lost 3 fish which Im sure are baardman, but the take was almost non existant.
what do you guys use for baardman?

search fuction man , scale down your traces , and cast even shallower than you think the fish are ! a while back like 3 weeks we had a cool thread going , where
I and couple of other guys shared a lot of info regarding BAARDMAN!
clear calm condisions produce them , they feed very shallow ,most probably why they so skittish sometimes prawns and worms will produce but white mussel and other bait do get fish !!!
myself and couple of friends target the Baardman , and leave the Galjoen fishing for others , ha ha i got a NICE ONE in late last week !
best eating fish for me !

where do you fish gallieman?
At natures valley and eerste river.
another sealiner tempted me back into targeting them when he spotted some at natures valley , so I went down yesterday and also saw them in really shallow water like 1 meter deep, maybe even a bit shallower.
I was using really thin 4 kilo line on my grunter outfit , with a small #2 hook and a sliding ball sinker behind a swivel with a 25 cm trace to the hook.

Hey galliman , the only thing i would have chanced on your outfit , was make the hooksnoot longer about 60 to 90 cm ....

What time of day , if any, is the best time to target them. Im thinking of cruising down tommorw at first light, getting a supply of prawns and then hitting the gullies at 7am.

BAARDMAN are shallow feeders they act very skittish , a long hooksnoot makes your presentation look more natural!

They bite best in the dark, so I'd say late afternoon till well into the night. don't shine your light on the water!
