Automatic Pontoon Pressure Regulator

 Good day fellow Sealiners

I have also posted this in "Startboard" Section, however realized i don't think it was the correct place so im just re-posting in this forum as i think its more apt.

I have been hectically busy and haven't been able to make a post in a while. During December i made a trip down to Plett with my duck and im sure we all know how Pontoons hate traveling into different altitudes.

I constantly had to stop and inflate my Pontoons back to standard pressure as they kept sagging and creating unnecessary stress on the glue and drag on my car, a big headache in my opinion.:X LOL!

When my boat was moored and i wanted to head out for early morning fishing, i first need to inflate my pontoons as they had contracted from the previous cold evening.

When i drove back to Gauteng, they are now expanding and once again causing excess strain and drag on the whole system, I then had to keep stopping to deflate to standard pressure.

On my way home, i was thinking - if only there were a device that could do this all for you?

I am meeting with an engineer tomorrow afternoon to discuss the likelihood of such a unit being manufactured, I've drawn up a blueprint on my thoughts and idea's of this, i would like to know what is your thoughts? as avid boaters of South Africa

My idea of the unit is that will run from the boats 12v battery system, it will be permanently connected and will have its own automatic preassure sensor per compartment which the user can set, the moment the compartment drops bellow or picks up above that input pressure, the compressor will activate, go through a distribution gateway to the pontoon compartment  that needs either an increase or decrease in pressure, and action it accordingly. it will serve as both to inflate and/or deflate

What are the thoughts on such an idea?

Many Thanks!

I personally think its a fantastic idea. Driving down to the coast and back to the Highveld one looses at least one hour on the side of the road inflating and deflating. The biggest challenge would be to monitor all compartments eg one compartment my need inflating, while the connecting compartment needs a bit of deflating to get to the set pressure. It will thus be an multiple system, and we know that their is no space to hide cables and pipes on the deck. Good luck and keep us posted.

Use a scuba cylinder and you can use it for your tyres or pontoons....Just be careful to not over inflate.....

Hi, I would like to come by your place to see what you guys are up to, not to "steel the concept" but rather to maybe assist?
