This is really sad....but to take Excavator and trucks to remove all that soil of that dam will cost millions....it will be million cubs of soil that should be removed.....this is very sad..

Will let you know by Thursday, we might be going past the dam on Wednesday, will take a few pics.

Donnies lyk nie so sleg nie, maar die dam het min water en hy hengel baie moeilik. Ek kon darem die vis en 'n kleiner een land.

Afternoon All,

Has anybody been to Donaldsons bottom lake lately.

 

If so can you please give me feedback as to what the condition of the dam and facilities is.

Have they cleaned the grass in the dam up, have they fixed the ablution facilities. Is it safe to go there.

Any feedback on what it is like there at the moment.

I imagine the protests that are going on in Bekkersdal (The township right next to it) would have rendered the place rather unsafe, but I read on the news today that protests have stopped. There's also the environmental hazard linked to the dam, being contaminated with Uranium and all kinds of mining activity waste.......and all and all....

That is never good news,

I work at a water treatment company and can confirm that if it is acid mine drainage effecting the water quality it will be a very costly process to solve the water quality.

So not sure what the plan is for this dam
