Assassin S6

Hello guys

I hope I'm not flogging a dead horse with this question:-

If one were to purchase an Assassin S6 HMG from Basil Manning today, would one be getting the original South African-made blank? Theres a lot of confusion out there and I too am a bit confused. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this for me.

Much appreciated
Daniel...

To my understanding yes, it would be the T53 HMG blank by Blue Marlin, just made to Basilmanning specs.

The Surf, Competitor and the new Beach Master series are imports.

Thanks for the reply Nemesis, thats good to hear. I'm in the market for a new heavy shark rod to bring to NZ and I've had my eye on the S6(w/short heavy tip and shortened base) since I was a kid back in Durban. I'll pair it with a Trini50. Im intersted in the HMG now but I'm a bit afraid of the reputation HMG's have of breaking. In your opinion does the difference between standard grafite and HMG (ie;weight and pulling power) warrant the risk of paying that much for a rod and shipping it half way round the world and having it break? Or would I be better off sticking to a standard grafite?

PS... I have never owned an HMG. I'm more than willing to pay the extra $$ but when I think HMG i think brittle and as soon as I ding it, its all over. Or am I being paranoid haha?? All info would be extremely appreciated as I'm so far away.

Cheers

Bud i've owned over a dozen HMG'S,both Assassin and Pentagon ,and i fish very hard with them.I have never ever had one of them let me down or break. When it comes to shark fishing, you cant match the weight + the pulling power that HMG provides. The rod you talking about is awesome, with nice pulling power.

Nemesis, thank you very much for your help. I think its time for me to get one of those bad boys. Hope the fishing is good over there. Cheers.

Does this Mean That an s6 is basically a dolled up blue marlin?
surely ......... Not ? Although My gut is telling me otherwise ..

I bought a 365/7 T53 Hmg rod the other Day , and -weighing in at a frugal sickening 570 Grams - I'd Rank this thing just short of The bees Knees ........
