(Assassin Rock Hopper 2 piece with BAG Recommended Line: 10lb - 15lb , Recommended Sinker Weight: 2oz , LENGTH 11’)

So i found this rod in a local store last year some time and thought it would be cool for light tackle and scratching missions. Got a small 3000 size grinder and some 12lb mono and Ive actually been throwing plastics and small bullets spoons, CIDs etc in Durban with it. Must say for a budget rod it sure does cast very well.

Anyway, Ive been looking around to see what other rods are in the E-Series and havent seen anything, even online. Do any of you guys know of any of the other in the range or is it just this one?

Assassin Rock Hopper are classic, short-butt styled, multi-purpose fishing rods. Hey there Ninja Nic.......cant answer yr Questrion but I must admit that it is a very nice rod you have there.
I bought my Rock Hopper 11' last year after I found that its predecessor, the KZN Classic was discontinued & I couldn't find it anywhere.
I used it once & subsequently bought the 8’ rock hopper & bought my son a 11’ for spinning. This is an absolute beaut of a rod & I can spin the whole day with it.
Did you see that Kingfisher sells the Poseidon KP Special Rods which are designed for  KP fishing.
It’s a 2 piece rod with a short but and smaller guides.
Have a peek at this.

Hi Ben, I agree with you 100%. Its a very cool little rod indeed. When I got mine they were a fair mount cheaper too so for me its really been amazing value for money.

I see there a quite a few new rods in the Poseidon range now. Personally Kps scare me cos I cant seem to cast properly with them. The Coastline Rods also seem very nice too. Going to Kingfisher after work today to have a closer look.

Just a Q, though I suppose you know....ever been at Hyper Tackle in Chatsworth ?
Certain items are very cheap to reasonably priced.

Thats where I conduct those dangerous visits... found my Rock Hopper there ;)

30g max is a bit too light to get a KP moving unless it's one of the small plastic jobs.I spent many years using KPs in the 70s and the length of these rods at 10' & 11" is perfect. Ninja-Nic, it will take you just a morning to get the hang of throwing a spoon with a KP so shout if you keen as I see you're from Durbs as well.

Ben - I stopped to scrutinize one of these rock hoppers recently - think it was an 8' and was also very impressed with the build. You have an 8' and a 11' - just curious to know why you're looking at the 10'? other than a mild dose of TA?

First of all Harold.....I find the bearings in the KP's not always running at their peak performance....add a bit of Reel-X oil & run it for a few minutes & you see a diffs. At least I find it to work well. I agree the 30g is a bit lite, but I use my RH with a Shimano Stradic....it casts like a dream.....I use the KP under different circumstances with RH ie drift-bait from rocks, bit heavier spoons etc.

You have read what N.Nic said....I too am an addict.....never to much toys....is not about just catching a fish....but enjoying the "toys" used to catch them....I have a stash of KP's. If I had 1 rod to use in my life only, I will always wonder how it would feel to use another......so I rather buy my own & play with it before I wonder to much or never find out.....its an addict thing.....;)

Saw those KP specials this morning, and I must say they do look really nice. At the current price I might just get one too. You know, feed the addiction a bit more ;)

Harold, thanks for the offer on that casting lesson man. If I get the above mentioned rood, I may just take you up on that. Looks like I may have to look into renting some storage space for the extra tackle though.

REALLY NICE.and under 500 bucks too. Excellent value. Can see I might be eating a lot of 2 minute noodles this month. Hopefully noodles with fish ;)

I hear you about that 'other' rod.... I went to work overseas for about 4 years and on leaving was convinced to sell all my tackle as I didn't plan to return. Well I sold everything in a fire sale and on returning started the accumulation process again but this time I think I have the antidote for TA - just need to stop reading posts from yourself and Ninja-Nic....
