Depending on how you want to catch them the tackle differs. If you want to catch them by casting on their turns, I'll recommend Lume Madpumkinseeds (slow sinking). If they don't take the pumkinseeds I'll either cast with a firetiger rattlerap of a Effzett spoon. If they are turning in deeper water I'll use deeprunners. When they are cruising in the shallows I'll either use Lume's or jigs, depending on how spooky they are. If they are sunbathing a loodkop works well or if you want to call next to reeds or trees a loodkop will also work. At dam's like Bloemhof I use Lume Madpumkins to call with, but then I use the bigger models that are fast sinking.

I use artlure by reeds, trees and other hiding spot for them so I want to try leadheads but i cont find them in my local tackle shop

No. braid a better option. At least 30pounds. I use 60 pounds on my baitcaster for barbel, and still loose big ones braking my line.

Joshua, my barbel spinning setup has 14lb fireline (actual breaking strength around 40lb) mainline with 2m 100lb braid and 30 - 40cm 0.75mm mono to a swivel & split ring onto the lure

the mono is to give me confidence that the braid isnt putting the fish off... sometimes we find barbel in crystal clear water. They are quite blind, but I'd rather not take the chance
