hi Guys,

I just bought myself an arrowhead fishingboat, cathedral type hull with a yamaha 30 outboard motor electric start, ( 4,3m long and 1,7m wide). It has no buoyancey or seaworthy. please help me with the following:

A) What is the number of persons that this vessel can legally carry?

B) Who can do the buoyancey for me at a reasonable costing in the vaal triangle?

C) It is a bit late now but have i made the right decision.

Kind Regards

Tyson

Hi Tyson,

I trust that you have already recieved the answers to your questions posted a while ago. Just to confirm, I have it as four adults being the max.

I too have an arrowhead and have found it to be a great fishing boat. Depending on the type of arrowhead (mine is the arrowhead ski) - bass fishing can be a bit of a challenge as it's difficult (but not impossible) to mount a sneaker motor. If you have the open arrowhead this shouldn't be a problem.

For general freshwater fising I have found that it handles well. It's also quite ideal for tiger fishing. I went with a mate of mine to Zims (5 yrs ago) and we were four adults. Space was a little limited but we still had good fun. That's what prompted me to sell my old boat and buy the arrowhead.

I also went to Sterkfontein in january this year. Sterkfontein is well known for it's choppy water when the wind comes up and she handled very well. We had some hairy moments when the wind came up really strong. At no time did I feel that we were in serious danger.

All in all I think it was a good buy and I think you'll agree once you've spent some time on the water.

Hope you enjoy it.

Regards,

Shane

Howzit Shane,

Thanks for the reply, I am busy getting my boat ready for the summer. still havent decided where to fit the sneaker motor. was thinking of moumting it on the transom next to my main motor. Any ideas? I will get my son to post some pictures of the boat when he gets back from leave as i am a bit of a technophobe when it comes computers. Can only do the basics.

Hi Faizal,

I'll see if I can post a picture showing how I did mine. It all depends on which arrowhead you have. I found that mounting the sneaker on the transom results in a sluggish response. The boat handles better (in my opinion) if you mount it on the nose. The end result is not very pretty but the fish don't seem to mind.

I did it myself but I'm sure a professional can do a much better job.

Regards,

Shane

I mounted my Minn Kota on the bow, with the battery in the front hatch, seems to work ok, my motor is only a hand control and I've modified some plastic pipe to fit on as an extension. In another post I've reversed the head to the prop, which is an advantage
