Stap n 10 dag patrollie en moes klaarkom met daai "ratpaks" wat 2 dae moes hou. Tou ons in die kamp instap se die Sgtmajoor ons moet gou shower en dan kan ons iets eet in die menasie tent. Toe ons in die tent instap is daar twee borde bo-op mekaar met brood tussen in. Troep Cordier voel so aan die brood en se toe "ag nee man hierdie is alweer ou brood" net toe steek die Sgtmajoor sy kop in die tent en se "Hitler se manne sou gesmag het na daai brood" Cordier antwoord hom toe "Jy is seker reg Sgtmajoor, maar toe was dit nog vars gewees" Flippit ons het almal gele soos ons lag.

Onthou daai Varkpan waaruit ons moes eet, daai goed het almal jippo guts gegee!

Rhodesian Army: Nationan Service Reg No : PR83954 registered when I turned 16, started working at 17 and was exempt for two years because I was training as a technician with the Post Ofice, went in for 11 months Nat Service 1973, Intake 130 A Co DRR, most of the guys had just left school, so I was cosidered an "ou top".
Ours was the first National Service Regiment to be involved in, and take casualties in the Rhodesian war, got tired of all the continuous callups and signed on regular.

728080 was my Regular No, left in 1980 as a Staff Sgt 2Bde Signal Squadron, based at Cranborne Barracks in Salisbury, but my last two years were spent in charge of the Signals Workshop at Kariba, some of the best years of my life!!!!
