If it says Code B ......

Read the reverse

Car GVM       : 3500 kg

Trailer GVM   :  750 kg

 

Went and renewed my driver's liscence yesterday

Spoke with the "Occifer"

 

Heavier than 750 kg....hook the boat and go to the testing grounds and be practically re-tested

Don't know if one has do re-write the theory syllabus

Do not know what category you then move into

 

Downside if you don't:

Insurance claims rejected even if the other party is at fault, in event of mishap on the road

If someone dies...even worse I would think

 

They only need to compare your driver's liscence limitations with the trailer/boat's liscence GVM

it seems u a bit too young. i had the old code 8 license and when it changed it wet to EB which can tow. i notice this with most of my 40 plus friends. anyone with a new license gets a B only. Go figure

On top of that, make sure your towing vehicle can legally tow your boat! Some okes tow a big old Cat with a Bantam or such, you need to make sure that the towing vehicle complies with your licence and weight being towed

I qualified for code 08.... 40 years ago!

 

With the transition came a few things....tractor drivers on farms all of a sudden had Cat B liscences!

And I...can only chuck out garden refuse on a VERY small Venter trailer

So, I am working on this new shyte in my life....my boat/trailer GVM is 3000 kg

You need to take a trailer that has GVM 751 kg, and go reverse it for 40 m

Then you get a liscence EB that can haul 3500 kg mega boat... no problem!

16 ton liscence, eh....... no count!

 

Seriously though,

Go figure this thing if you have anything heavier than a rubber duck

 

Could land you in heavy shyte!~!!

The other thing is, how many 750kg + boat/trailer combos actually have functioning brakes??? most of the guys I know are not legal...:doh

I have a EB should any body want to give away their boat I'm happy to take over the burden...just saying.

Great minds think alike,I also wanted to suggest that. If anyone is not in the mood for license hassles, i have an EC, will gladly accept your boat to rid you of the nightmare, ha ha ha.
