What is the maximum drag on your reel Fluffy?

lets rather say this: I CANT AFFORD MORE DRAG!!

torium30.but i use to lock my old penn 114 with 0.65m line and the unmentionable couldnt drag my 120kg big @55 anywhere of brighton pier.

Trust me when I tell you, from my limited experience, I locked up that last bronzie with my hand on the spool....I weigh 118kg and she pulled me 3 or 4 steps closer to the sea! till I gave her some line! It's not like lifting 15kg with your hand, thats easy! Remember you have the stretch of the nylon and the bend of the rod to take up some of the force too....unless you're from the southern cape and try and straight stick everything....HAHAHAHAHA....just taking a swipe at Whaler!!!

I gotta run, chat in the morning!

You don't need 0.60, 0.50 will be fine!

Who wants me to boast and do it one handed???? lol guys i am not saying you are wrong.lol.

Before we go of topic. i would fish for 40 kg kobs with 0.35mm if the structure allows it. 0.55mm of beach casting bait etc.

of deep water points ill slap any diameter on that i could cast.just no money to do it:(

Locking the spool with your hand is exactly that, locking your spool and not allowing your reel to give line.
10kg (your drag) vs 118kg, 118kg wins hands down.

Fact, you will never hold your rod with a fish taking line at 15kgs of drag!!No two ways about it!

Agreed!!!

One does not pull a fish out of the water you merely turn it's head and force it to swim in the direction you wnat it to swim! If it doesn't turn its head, you're screwed! Broken line or no line is the result!

There is an unconfirmed story that Riaan Cruywagen once held on to a rod with the drag set at 18 kilos. But that was Riaan, I'm only man enough to admit that I'm not man enough. :::S

It was Riaan Cruywagen that was holding onto 18kg of drag while pulling Chuck Norris in from the States after a cast went slightly skew and he foul hooked him!
