Hey me again , just want to ask some advise again, if any of you have the time, will you have a look at this you tube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgV6RA3MqgM  and tell me if these are proper to use in our dams, I'm impressed with these rigs, or should I just stick to what I'm using (helicopter rig and safety rig)

I'm kinda new to the specimen side of fishing so any info at all will be helpfull

Thanks

Hey Shakespear..lol. those are all proper rigs, come on fox? lol! they do work, but you need to understand where they work, its not just a case of thinking hmmm this one looks great and dumping it into a dam, they all designed for diff conditions, mainly, baits and dam bottoms, gravel bars, weed patches, silt and deep muddy bottoms. I just have a problem with the ones they burn, its so easy to accidentally catch the hook link. Also, im a bit wary that a bfc would pull the burn ball through the eye and then hes gone.
The best starter rig is the straight forward type, sim to the no 6 in the video, a simple wide gape hook with a hair using the knotless knot. and if you into helicopters that fine, they kinda universal. just remember to adjust them correctly for the diff bottoms fished. Safety clip types are also very good.
Do yourself a favour and buy a book "Fox guide to modern carp fishing", found at tackle shops about R150-R200 good investment, you can learn about the diff rigs there and they show you how to make them up. Read and practice... all I can say, and then find experienced anglers to go with you or help you... he he heeee!

Wikkelspies, the best advice I can give you, from my and my friends' experiences, is to stick to what you're using. If they work, then dont bother with these fancy rigs. Helicopter and safety-clip rigs will get you very far, they're not complicated and they work. I have been down the road with all sorts of strange and interesting rigs... but at the end I realized that in SA we dont need them. Keep it simple man.

Anyway, just my 50 000 000 Zim $ worth, lol....
