On Saturday my Charter decided that they would like to launch at 6:00am as the one guy was flying in from JHB and was only landing at 00:00 midnight!
So we headed out with the weather looking good, 1.7m swells at 12 seconds, a SW wind at 12 knots and a water temp of 22.8°C - as usual it was not long before we passed the first of the marks…hum?!... quiet, nothing, this is most unusual… there was not even a showing on the finder…
Ok, on to point Number 2… still nothing…hum?! - This was starting to look bad!! I decided to try something new, turned around and tried a different route…Uh-Ha!... ZZZZZZZZZZZZ it worked! (but this was the infamous hat eating shark grounds) with 3 lines on the go and only 2 guys fishing it was a case of get those fish to the boat ASAP!
First one in was a small 3kg Bonnie, second about a 5kg Bonnie and the third well, this was still taking line… this one looks big … as we made up ground on this fish, I felt much like an 80’s musical was happening
“You take 2 steps forward and 2 steps back…†(just picture Paula Abdul singing!), Pump and Wind Pump and Wind, or you are going to lose this fish! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ then….. ZZZZZ ZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZ ZZZZZZ . Hummmm that is the sound of a Late Tax Submission!!!
And sure enough it was *THE TAX MAN*who had decided it was a good time to audit the books!! Gladly though, it was only a partial audit, as my client still had to fight for the head and my lure.
Sadly though the next lure was not so lucky… Next time though, I will be ready for you with a Hat ……. The weather, however decided to stop playing along and so it was time to head for sheltered waters.
So total for the Trip = 6 x good size Bonnies, 4 x Small bait Bonnies and 1 ½ x Taxed Bonnie…
