Went out yesterday, but battled to find anywhere suitable.

HookedOnFish, you can fish for shad at Schoonies. If you drive all the way along Marine Drive, park in front of the Sacramento restaurant and you can fish in that gully.

You can also fish at Flat Rocks. Park at Pine Lodge and walk under the restaurant onto the beach. Walk about 150 to your left and fish there on a high tide. You have to wade out a bit but that's a very good spot. I would suggest using a Max Rap there as you're only fishing in maybe 1.5m of water, so the Max Rap dives down just the right depth to cover the whole water column. Also it's very rocky there so you don't want a lure that's going to hit that bottom. If you get hooked up on rocks you can just wade further out an unhook it as it's the same water depth for maybe 80m out. Just don't wade too far out as there are plenty of big sharks cruising around...

I have caught quite a few the hour before sunrise and the hour after sunset using the Gt Glow , but have had a lot of success with most lures that have some glow in it in those time frames .
For better results use a uv light on your lures , they energise a lot quicker , shine brighter and last a little longer when lite up compared to using the head lamp .

Been to the Gully at Sacramento, my brother and I spent a couple hours there beginning of the month, but saw the potential and will be trying there again soon.

As for flat rocks, will give that a go as well, same for Pine Lodge.
