anyone know anything about a quantum 30?

Hi guys,

A mate of mine in jhb has been offered a quantum cabo cnw30pts for a steal.anyone know anything about them?he will be down in PE for 2months for work and would like to try for a black ray at st francis...(Rather him than me) Is the reel upto it or should I go with my gut and tell him to buy a torium???the quantum is brand new and still in the box for 500 from his girlfriends dad. Is the reel worth purchasing???

Thats a bargain!

If it was the price of a torium I'd say go for a torium rather but its well worth it at that price.

It has centrifugal breaks and carbonfibre washers standard. Not that a torium is a difficult reel to cast but for someone who doesnt fish every weekend the breaks can be a huge help.


Targetting black rays with either may not be the wisest plan though in the first place....

You can also pm old salt & dswart, they both have played around with the Quantum

its not a bad reel I have seen some nice big black pylies caught on a q20 and they still going strong. takes lots more line than a torium.
