I have heard that it is not a species comp and that the biggest fish takes it??? The Natal boys were cleaning up every year, especially the Barthos.

Yip that is correct.Biggest gamefish wins the boat and then lots of other prizes and cash for the species.The person or boat that takes the main prize can not claim any other prizes in the comp.

The heaviest game fish excluding billfish, for the week wins the boat, but the rest of the prizes form part of the species challenge,with prizes for the top ten boats as well as daily prizes for top daily boat and heaviest daily dorado,tuna,GT and cuta. There are also prizes for the release of billfish.

2015 Guinjata bonanza is a month away, the bonanza prize for the heaviest fish is a Z-Craft F200 with 2 x Yamaha 100hp 4 stroke motors on trailer fitted with an LA oil filled axle valued at R500 000.00. There is also the species division offering excellent prizes of over R200 000.
this year we will also be having our first Jet Ski comp held over the same period. the heaviest fish caught on a ski will walk away with a Yamaha VX700 valued at R120000.00. there will also be prizes for the species division on the ski's.

My son fished it 2 years ago with mates from Malawi, i was tied up with work. This year we are ready. Cant wait.
