Any S/W anglers here that also fish F/W,Bass & Trout?

I caught Bass on Frogs at Clanwilliam Dam over 20 years ago,but lots has changed wrt gear,lures,bait,etc.I'm totally out of my depth now.

I hear Flukes have been working well,but only Fluke I know is when winning R10 on lotto's 3 numbers lol,after it's cost me more than double to buy lotto tickets.

So wondered if any members have crossed the divide between F/W and S/W?

Hey walt clan is a awesome venue there's world class smallmouth fishing and in the last few years the largemouth have boomed

Flukes work well mojo rigged and weightless
Try crankbaits aswell the lipless variety work really well when the wind blows
Smaller lures for the smallies and opposite for largies in general

Smallies love rocky areas and the largies weedy bays

I don't want to go too much into it ill be typing all day
Use ave 14pound line in flourocarbon when the water is super clean

Slow right down ur retrieve for smallies and fish deeper

Hey Walt,

I have gone the opposite way in the last 2 years, ie from F/W to Salt (Rock and Surf), although admittedly the F/W is fly fishing, and not so much for Bass, rather Trout mostly but some carp and yellowfish too.

I'd be keen to do a bit of a swap if you are ? I could take you for a day's fly fishing and show you the ropes (I have plenty spare tackle), and you could do the same and show me some of the ropes for your favoured style?

Wow,Great Fishing Minds Think Alike!!!!

That's so uncanny,as the next thing after checking salties doing F/W was to go to F/W section and put up a post offering my S/W services in exchange for someone's F/W,Bass/Trout knowledge. Tradeing knowledge type thing.

I'm all for it,Grant,and will pm my particulars,and we can arrange something.

Cool! I have found it very hard to get up to speed with my R&S as we are only a small group of guys learning together.

There's so much knowledge out there so a bit of quid pro quo goes a long way!
