Fished st Lucia this weekend, caught three small kingfish, one queenfish and a few underside shad,on Sunday I slid a live 3 spot pompano, the rod was in the stand for about a hour, then the rod jerked and I noticed my line went slack, when reeling up I noticed my leader .70mm(kingfisher) was cut above my stopping ring. I was using a florocarbon leader so if it was a shark my leader on my sliding trace would have been bitten of,here my entire hook trace and sinker were lost, any idea what could have happen

A shark not big enough to 'inhale' a bait will often swim in a circle, chewing at the bait, & will swim into the line above the trace, sometimes even above the leader. Milkies ere very good at this - "must have been a monster, swallowed my whole trace" & ten minutes later someone gets a 1.2kg milky, with the missing trace in it's mouth. Also happens with swimbaits quite frequently, again generally with pick-ups from smaller (relatively) sharks.
