Another Newbie - Ski fishing

Hi All

I am new to the forum and doing research on kayak fishing and I am seeking advice as to which is the best option.

I have read all the topics for newbies on the forum and have not come to a conclusion (probably because there isn't an easy one)

I am 1.8m at 105Kg. Living in Pretoria, heading to Moz (Tofo) in December and will probability try and fish the north coast twice a year. Rest of time will be on the Vaal for some exercise and fun.

I have found the two kayaks below so far:

1) Fluid Bamba with rudder option
2) Legend Trident

Thinking plastic kayak due to using on Vaal and only a few times at coast a year.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Hi Yes, you ask the perennial question - plastic vs fibreglass :) - it seems both have pros and cons and those that have them love them equally! So you probably cant go r=wrong as long as you have a rudder offshore.

But if you are considering offshore -even on the odd occasion I would also look at a Stealth Fisha 500 - flatter bottom (good stability), loads of space (wet well for storage of rods etc), possibly lighter (thus easier to portage) and tried and tested in surf conditions.

Hi Tiffe

Excellent advice from a well respected Kayak fisherman...Malgas

I fish Mozambique from Ponta Malongane to as far as Pomene recently with a Kayak and with the current and wind sometimes I would strongly suggest a fiberglass yak

Fished Barra and Tofu and the wind can be Nasty at times beyond the rock

Stealth although expensive is really good...from the Fisha to the Pro Fisha
with super stability,,,The new Stealth 555 is super for your length and weight.

Before the Pro fisha I was using a Pinnacle Elite which is really difficult to beat in stability and wave riding ability.
Not as good a wave puncher and against the wind but 99% easier than a plastic
The hatch storage is huge and you can even store your paddle there
..
Malboer also on the forum used a Pinnacle on 1.9 length and 105 kg
If you really want the best..Pro Fisha 575...Super yak
