Hey guys i am not a dropshot angler and looked at it as a lot of hard work with to many choices, however after watching the blackfin dvd and learning a bit more i was amazed to see the quality of fish caught, with a lot of hard work and paticience,

i would like to match my bg 30 to a 9ft heavy to throw 7inch baits, advice please and shops or prices where i can see the rods , thanks kk

It does come in a Medium Heavy I think but definately go Extra Heavy( can cast up 3ounces) I think it is a hole lot more verastile. Did you watch both the Black Fin DVDs as wesely lands a 30Kg + Ignoblis Kingy with the same rod on the second DVD.

My dream rod - one day

KK - Bro you can pick the Extra Heavy up for around R 1200 in PE... pm Marshie or Munga for details, I forget the shops name....

Great rods, had a cast or two with one at Gammies last week... Beautiful action, and incredibly light for its power... must say I'm amazed that Wes landed a 30 kilo Iggy with one.... but just shows its a quality stick in the hands of a QUALITY angler...
I was sceptical of the Berkley range, till I handled one... lovely rod..., you won't be dissapointed....

Truely something to see.

Wesley fought a Tarpon off the beach for a while on his stick and he was getting the better of it when his line partet for no reson. Those rods are worth every cent.Cast like hell and allot of pulling power

Hi Guys,

It's great to see that you enjoy my rod, I had a hand in designing it and it's like watching one of your kids growing up, brings a tear to my eye.

It was originally only available in casting 9'XH,
And thought it would be nice in spinning.

Enjoy

Hi there

I have just bought a Diawa BG20 and a sensation shad pro 10ft.
Can throw 2- 3 ounce sinkers.
shad pro - R550
I am loving this combo.
It might be a bit overkill for dropshot but I am using it for saltwater spinning and scratching.

looked at those rods today, they look pretty good.

They even have a "flip up" guide. I personally think it's a waste on a spinning rod, but it looks COOL.

But looking at the guides I think the quality of them might be a tad "lacking". Haven't looked much into them but the guides don't look braid friendly to me.

Anybody else ?

Yeah I am a bit worried about the braid friendliness.I currently have 20lb mono on there and have had no problems. But It only hold about 180 meters.

I have just bought some 30lb fireline and I am going to test it out this weekend will let you know the outcome.

Fingers crossed.

Might have to look at a fireline backing with mono.
