An amateur’s rig for packers

I have been toiling with this silly idea of making a ‘packer-turned-bait’ rig.  You bait your hook and tie a smaller hook (I mean a very small hook) with either a .45mm line or thin piece of piano wire to the eye of the baited hook.  The line with the smaller hook should be very short and lie slightly below the shank of the baited hook. Bait the smaller hook with a bit of tendered squid. When packers start cleaning your bait, one will hook itself on the smaller hook and become live bait. The vibration it causes when trying to free itself may/will attract predators which will in turn come to investigate and chow it, and as a result or somehow get hooked.  The shorter the smaller hook line will make the baited hook to hover not far above from the packer-turned-live bait. The predator may/will swallow live bait together with the recently baited hook and vas papa. Yes, an amateur’s rig. comments?
