Hi there, mates.

My trip in March to Winkels are cancelled but luckily I've organized a stay in Amatikulu. Can anyone tell me what this place is like for sliding live bait and what i am likely to catch? I have had excellent sessions in the lagoon but had no success an the surf as yet. Any tips?

hi there

I was there the other day, but the side-wash was terrible and didn't fish much. What did you get in the lagoon. i found that the lagoon was full of these little annoying thorn fish that couldn't leave my bait alone.

i usually slide out live mullets. expect to catch edible like salmon and shad and non -edibles like sharks, skates, and some tacklebuster  sandsharks.i therefore from exerience would only use my saltiga 50 and trinidad 50 for sliding livebait.you may also use live shad which we catch.mullets are not easy to net and i have experienced many painful moments failing to net mullets , only to see that those that had come with mullets hooking garrick and salmon .        killy

Thanks for the responce guys.:clap12

The lagoon is great fun if you can get some chicken-guts. The breams just love the stuff. Tha biggest i have caught is a yellowtail-bream of 2,3kg(confirmed with an electronic scale) and a couple of sand-shark and grunter if you are lucky. But my target this year will be the surf as i realy want to catch my first BIG shark.

Have anybody else been there and what did you catch?:whisp
