Here is an Alutecnos Gorilla that needed some TLC. The handle hex shape where the main gear shaft locks onto thw handle shaft stripped on a big tail after the handle retaining screw broke off inside the main gear shaft. Removing this broken bolt was a bit of delicate surgery in fact quite complex. Then the handle itself needed to be rebuilt so the hex shape could lock onto it again. Also the top shim the of the retaining bolt fell off during the fight and was lost at sea and this meant that i had to machine this too. Instead of alluminum i machined it out of stainless and went for a 20mm diameter and 5mm thick to ensure it offers better support than the original part did. Have a peek.

The handle lock screw had broken off inside the gear shaft and was held by locktite, delicate surgery was required to get this out. You can clearly see the hex sides on the main shaft where the handle locks onto, the mating sides inside the handle were are stripped away it was totally round. This had to be rebuilt.

Days after this project started it was completed. A new retaining screw fitted, and new thicker handle retaining plate i machined out of 20mm stainless bar, also made it thicker than the standard part which was lost at sea when this broke, this will offer much better support under torsional loads. I also bevelled the top edge so it looks classier than just flat round being a high end reel, so it looks the part also.
