Hi Guys new to sealine.I am looking for a multipurpose spinning reel that will handle GT and yellowtail[from the side].The reel would be used with my Assasin Spin Master 11ft most of the time and if im lucky enough at some point big GT's on what ever rod will be best suited.Does anyone own or have any reviews on the Assasin would it handle big GT's from the side?Only caught one yellowtail 5kg so far on it.

Have been looking at shimano staradics, saragosa not sure what size 8000?Dont really want to spend on the Stella although i hear its the best.Does anyone have an idea of costs.
Was thinking 50lb braid any recomendations on the make?

Thanks cuz......tried asking u but no luck.....taking these questions too the professionals.....you know the guys that actually catch fish

I feel the love...

To be honest if you sent a PM asking questions, I too don't reply via the PM system. If you want to ask a question, better do it on the forum...

Anyway, welcome to Sealine. I tend to agree with Smiley and TW re the Stradic or Saragosa. Personally I would go for the Saragosa 8000.

What the others say. Stradic or saragosa. Stradic casts easier but saragosa handle the salt better in the long run.
Personally I will go with the stradic 8000, and wash your reel after every outing. Will last you a long time.
For the braid, I will go with 35lb gosen. Casts easier. Anything heavier on reel or line is overkill on your rod:SSS

Saragosa is your best bet as you have an output over 20kg of drag , 35-40lb braid is ideal for any medium size game fish as you are able to pull the fish without doing damage to the equipment you are using. the heavier the braid also affects the casting of the lures you use , heavier braid = heavier lures.

happy hunting :::S

The retrieve speed on the new 6000/8000 FG Sustain and FJ Stradic are to slow for yellowtail spinning. The previous FE and FI models had much higher gear ratio's.

So if I was looking for a spinning reel from whats available today my choice would be the 6000 Saragosa. High retrieve speed, better drag and more water proof than the current Stradic.

Thanks guys for all the info.Just bought the 5000 stradic fj for light tackle spinning and drop shot.Awsome reel.

Will have a look at the reels that recomended for the larger set up.What knot would you recommend to join braid to mono.I would like to learn one knott that will cover all line streanghs if there is.Aslo one that is not to complicated and take a long time to tie.

Thanks for the replies once again

Unfortunately i dont know where im going to tackle GT or when.i just know i am at some point.
But what ive noticed when looking for the a charter is they dont cover ur gear you require.Prefer to have my own gear anyhow. So im starting by collecting gear as i go.Cause the gear alone i see will costs a small fortune! This way it doesnt hit the pocket to hard when the time comes.

Been looking at Lazarus Banks.....Any sugestetions? Would like to go to a place with a variety of fish to catch, with monsters also for the photo album, where the stocks are plenty.I know fishing is fishing and no one can garentee you fish but if im spending that sort of tom i want to go to the best my pocket can afford.A mate of mine recomended X mouth in Aus aswell.
