Advice on Purchasing an All rounder Boat

Hey Guys

So the bug has bitten, I'm new to the boating game and would appreciate advice from the pros. I'm looking for a boat that can be used for fishing like Snoek and tail at sea as well as langebaan lagoon, velddrit river for the family Skiing, Tubing and fishing. Don't forget cray fishing. If I could have my way, it would be ultimately a fishing boat but I have to take my family into consideration (Wife, kids and their partners)

I'm looking for something very stable to minimize motion sickness, Must it be a cat or single hull?

I'm looking at Secondhand, I don't now all the different makes etc. I've looked at at adds all over the place and aware there will be makes that I haven't seen yet.

I'm thinking wet deck, center console, 4 strokes single or double.

Out off all the adds I've seen I like the following layout, not sure about the make.

Xpression 520. Mono hull, nice seating layout

what a can of worms this can be.

mono hole boats is great to pull tubes and skies.
but do tend to roll more on drifting.

i just like cat hulls. we also do pull tubes on the dam and it works for us.
but who cares, its my boat and my money, lol

many of the boats we have on the market are all good.

the small wit blitz use to broach.
the cobra cat boats also, old ones i understand.
i have fished off a 630 and it was bad

there is a boat builder in natal and you need to stay away from his boats, the build quality is very poor.

the old kosi cats were nice, but could not take much weight at the back and thus water got in onto the deck.
it is also a very slim boat, so not much space.

the supreme craft boats and but cats were well build and the capies rave about them.

the z craft boats were also well build and they were quite heavy.
the tom cat boats seem to be good as well but it too is a narrow/ slender boat.

i currently have a seacat 565 and i just love it.

i am sure the mono bosses will jump in here sooner or later.

what is you budget and where do you want to fish? type of angling.

motion sickness, well a rocking boat "mono" i do not know if it does increase the sickness :)

but you can do more things to prevent the motion sickness in getting to you

Appreciate the advice. Budget I would guess about R250k to R350k. I'm definitely liking the idea of a Cat as it seems to be the boast amongst many. Type of fishing will be occasional trips for snoek around Cape Town West Coast and some family play time in Berg River in Veldrift

Just to give you an advice : whatever you spend on boat leave at least R 50K on side for repairs and other . Unless you are so lucky to pick boat in such a good condition with young outboards .But with your budget that is hardly possible . Do not trust anything owner or dealer tells you . Trust your eyes only . Main aim is to find what is under the deck - wet foam or not . Is transom wood wet or rotten . If outboards are in advanced corrosion stage ( 4 stroke ) . 2 stroke is by far safest to buy second hand despite double fuel consumption . This does not include E Tecs . Those run away far from . Best quality hull finished is Nova Cat , then Yeld , then Tomcat , then rest follows . Softest riding is Butt and Supercat . Once you don’t see often being sold are the one that are really good , like 21Ft Yeld . Butt is also very popular and one of easiest to sell should you decide to sell it .
