I've finally saved up enough in the hobby fund to install a deck wash om my boat.

I've heard that the Jabsco 5bar system is the product of choice ,but I'm sure there is some diffirent opinions ?

What can I expect to pay and where can I find this at the best price ?

In my opinion. Keep saving because it won't be long before you need to replace it again. They just don't last on small ski boats.

For the best price check out Sureflow pumps from C-Dynamics in Cape Town.

However Johnson is still one of the more popular brands.

Hi Bennie, thanks for the info !

What would be the reason that they don't seem to last to long on n small ski boats ?
I've heard one must try and keep them as dry as possible, might it be that their more exposed to the salt water on the smaller boat ?

Thanks again for the help !

Best deck wash ever on any boat I have ever been on was a stainless pipe with funnel on the end.Drop when you run and wash deck, pick up when you are done. That was the most reliable system ever.Speed up for more pressure, slow down for rinsing fish.

The motors pack up due to exposure to the salty environment. I would rather invest the money in tackle and buy a bucket. Besides, they pee such a tiny little stream, to wash away blood they are really useless.

Sticking to the old fasioned bucket and water is probably the best thing to ! Pitty tho....

But thanks for the advice, no sence in spending that money if it's going to last a year or so !

Fatcat, hat manual stainless funnel and pipe you mentioned, was it home made or can you buy it somewhere ?

Please complete your location so we know where about you are. South Africa is vague.

There are plenty of good brands to choose from when it comes to pumps. Jabsco is definitely one of them. Have you considered Sealand? Here are a few to take a look at:

I enjoyed Fatcat's advice, very practical... maybe stick a pipe on the end of your drogue :)

Nothing beats a deck brush though, particularly when getting rid of slightly congealed blood. Wet it, give it a brief scrub then rinse. Preferably get a deck brush with a 1m or 1,2m handle. It beats getting down on your knees and then you are more likely to clean whenever it's necessary.
