Adjustable shad trace

This is the shad trace that myself and my father use, it is very successful and has the added bonus of being able to adjust your cork for different bait sizes

First, what you need:

.Steel (no.3 - no.5, I like using no.3)

.Clear nylon (0.50mm - 0.70mm, I generally use 0.50mm)

.Three way swivel (size is a personal preference, I like the size 4 variety)

.Wine cork cut in half (you can make your own, or buy them, they are R1 each or something like that)

.Sasati stick (the sticks used to impale meat on and cook over the braai)

.3/0 long shank hook

.Sinker line

Now twist, turn, and play with the tag end to break it off, leaving you with a flush tag that wont cut you if you have to grab the line

Make a loop +- 7cm - 10cm above the hook, give yourself a relatively long steel tag end

Stick the nylon through this loop and do an albright knot. Clip the nylon tag end off. To break the steel tag end, move it up and down to break it flush

Cut a 3cm piece of sasati stick, and put it through the cork. Measure out about 50cm-70cm of nylon and cut off, attach to the swivel. Attach you sinker line (thickness is also a personal preference)
