Accurate Casting

Coming from a Western Cape lure fishing background, I did not pay too much attention to accurate casting. Mostly working weedlines for bass and just casting in the immediate vicinity of tailing grunter, but not close to scare them. The rest was fan casting for leeries and cob.

But since moving to Singapore I have had to up my game big time! All freshwater fishing and most saltwater is from the side and when have jungle tight up behind you or are in among the mangroves special casting is called for, and since most fish are tight to structure you have to be accurate or going to blank or go home empty handed.

Made the switch to baitcasters and shorter rods but I'm still learning. Luckily this is stuff you can practise inside your home (use a cork with some lead shoved in!) or in the yard.

Accurate casting is a absolute must when fishing artificail's ,
I do a lot of bream fishing using very lite lures normally round the 4 / 5 grams and it certainly helps if you can perfect different methods to suite different conditions , everyday is another day to learn something new .

It takes one good cast to land perfectly next to the structure and it's game on and one average cast to spook the school and it's all over .

When you trying to catch fish in those hard to reach places , deep in the timber , under the jetties , under boats , between boats along the jetties , down the side of pillions pinpoint accuracy is the key to landing a few or blanking for the day .

Then of course the accurate casting required when sight casting to fish while working the flats which needs to be pin point accurate , watching and trying to read the fish , then casting to land just in it's path , not to close to spook it , but close enough to be in it's feeding zone and then of course work that lure ( normally litley weighted plastics ) just right to get the bite .
I enjoy all types of lure angling ,but working the flats sight casting is my favorite and the most rewarding . Imo

Casting accuracy and lure control also plays a big role in freshwater artlure, especially when casting for sighted carp and unsighted carp via feeding bubble trails.

Those guys in the vids sure have some serious casting skills.

The Gong Lei, Papuan black bass one is awesome.
