I get a call yesterday morning 11:30am from Haroun, "I'm going to Bailey's, fishing light, do you want to join me and the laaities !?" It's been ages since I was by the water, I decided that this would be good practice for my Witsands outing ! Rigged with 8ft rod, 1 & 2 oz sikers and I'm ready to rock and roll (without my blue suede shoes) ! I had a worm rigged from my last outing and decided to throw that first, no enquiries. I decide to try white mussle and I get a lekker BEEEG Klipvis ! LOL !! Try mussle again and just get pikkies, I decide to rig fresh redbait, place rod in rodstand and have a smoke. I was just about to light the cig when my rod screems in agony !! It was only R125 at Suburban, no wonder it was crying like that ! I pick the rod up and lift the line clear of the reefs and the fish is still on !! I'm just hoping that my 5kg line doesnt part ! Sliping and sliding on the moss covered rocks, I finally get some grip with my uncut toenails ! I play the fish out and it's a beaut of a Das, a few quick fotos and then released for it's teeth to turn yellow. I showed my daughter how to release the fish and she told me "Dad, it felt better to release the fish than catching it !" Next Haroun's rod started to rumble... It's on ! He plays the fish neatly and it's a small Gallie on the line! He plays the fish till a few feet in front of him but the hook pulls and the fish is auto-released ! It was now 16h00 and I had my share of adrenaline ! I can't wait for Witsands , I think it's going to be sports on light tackle!!
