Well this past weekend we went fishing on a farm next to the orange, and lo and behold I cuaght my first yellow on artlure!!! :first
Thanx Droomvanger for all the advice, it was valuable info.
I tried two sessions with the lure on friday and saturday afternoon, but I was bringing it in too fast and sometimes had to adjust the rod angle not to hit the bottem.
Later on that saturday night(after my baited line was in) I tried again. I then remembered the mention of the slow retrieve.
It was halfmoon and the breeeze had died down.
I was casting out straight and later on a bit diagonally, still nothing. My patience was wearing thin, and I conceded that I would catch nothing, but decided to keep on casting untill the aproaching clouds cover the moon.
I saw the ripples of some fish that was jumping paralell to the left of me, next to the reeds.
I decided to work close to the reeds on the left of me.
Shortly after the lure landed in the water I saw another set of ripples close to the lure, and before I knew what happend it was fish on!
I was very excited, finally knowing that at least know I know I was doing something right.
I tried calming myself, and being night time, I thought it was probably a small catfish.
The fish tried moving to the right and then the left, before I was finally able to see the silver body infront of me.
It wasn't over.
I had no net and the fish still had a chance to throw the hook.
At the last minute it did manage to unhook itself and landed with only it's head on the bank.
Quickley I grabbed him at the tail with my right hand and my left thumb firmly in his mouth.
After the photos it was back in the water, where it took a bit of recovery, until it smoothly glided away.
The lure btw was the red striped one on the left of the first photo.
The action is very realistic and the hooks are very sharp.
It is a floating lure and has some ratlles/balls on the inside.
