I run the 115 Suzukis on a 24' hydrofoil equipped cat. Get total consumption now of 1.32 litres / NM for both engines. This is averaged over 750 hours (post run in) and from idling crayfish / diving trips to 5000rpm runs to the deep. My standard indication is 40NM to the deep, 4 hours of trolling, and 44NM home, I use 135 litres.

I suppose the reason for your question is a too high fuel consumption. My first reaction is "115's on a 21' Butt - does your boat ever touch water?" In our club is a 21' running on 2x50 Suzukis and the performance is excellent. Another has 90 eTecs and the guy thinks his boat is much over powered! My first suggestion would be to safe on the fule bill by going to smaller motors. In my opinion the Suzuki is a far better motor and I'm sure they will give better fuel consumption and will be much cheaper to run and maintain. I think the 70 Suzis should be perfect for a 21' Butt

From the suppliers:

Suzuki DF 70
Long Shaft 155kg
X Long 158kg

Suzuki DF115
Long 189kg
X Long 194kg

With that out the way...
50 litres per 32-34 miles. I reckon you'll get less on the 4 strokes rather and yup as I've mentioned before, E-tecs are not my cup of tea.

I'm almost 19ft and the boat is heavy as it has a good few kilos of Ice going out and some fish on the way back.
I get 25 miles to 50 litres and I've got commercial style 75's which are the same as the trusty 85's. Not sure but I reckon you running heavy in my book.

156 and I have a 23Ft Butt powered by 2*70HP Suzukis..on our first trip to the deep we managed 1.3L/NM which I gather is not bad. Performance wise , neither of us complained during her maiden voyage....my previous boat had 50 Yammies 4's and they gave similar consumption figures. Chat to Ht regarding his buddy , Jeff White..he has 115's on his boat !

I would say 115's on a 21 butt is over powered. Weight of the motors is one thing, over poweredd another. Is your 21 a centre of the cabin version. Most of the cabin ones I have seen have had 70-90hp. When John butt built ours, he tsaid we mad to put 85's on. his recomended for cc is 2x60's. I do know the odd guy that has 115's on their 21 cc butt, and all they get extra is less $$ in pocket on fuel. Sure a bit more speen but in the same conditions witha bit of a chop, you cant really go faster than another boat without breaking yourself, your crew, your boat or all of the above.
If you looking at changing due to consumtion, rather look at 90 4's. will definately bring down consumption.
