2stroke oil ratio for 15hp Yamaha 2015

Mate I'm not an expert on that specific 2-stroke motor, but the general rule is 2% for 2-strokes.

You really do not need to add more than this as you will simply foul the plugs and rings and make a mess of unburned oil - so 2% is the max you will need.

Just make sure it's Marine TC-W3 and not normal 2stroke oil.

And then just some advice that you might want to use/loose.  A very old marine mechanic said the had 2 tanks - one smaller one mixed at 1% for slow speed trolling.  He complained that slow speed trolling at 2% usually left lots of un-burned oil and fouled plugs and eventual stuck rings. He had infact been running his motors on 1% for 90% of operation and all good.  No internal stress of damage at all and first pull starts as the plugs stay clean.

So in effect 2% is probably over oiling a bit for general use but only you will know if you run your motor WOT from the start, or do you take it slow.

I'm happy to run 1,5% - less is more so long as you have good oil.

Hi guys,Yamaha two stroke motors run on 100:1 mixture (ie 1% ). A lot of boaters use 50:1 which is 2% when they mix oil in their fuel tanks. Don't know why. My 60 hp Yammy has been running on factory specs of 100:1 all the time and nothing wrong with it.
