29 Mhz Radio

Hi guys

I have a GME GX 300 29 mhz on my semi rigid and in my vehicle I have a CRT 40 channel radio. I initially thought that one can tune into the boat from the vehicle or vice versa , however there is only a very faint reception on either radio when tuned into the various channels ie 14 , 15 & 16.

Is it possible that the radio in the vehicle is on another frequency ie: 27 Mhz? If so how can I check this and is the GX300 only set on 29 Mhz? It will be nice to have comms with the vehicle when out at sea in Moz.

Any input and advice from the guys in the know will be highly appreciated.

Hi Kleinboet, yip it does sound like the radio's are not sharing the same frequency, there is a modification on the GME 300 that will open it up to the 4x4 frequencies as well, which if I am not mistaken is 27??

also just check the aerial cables as any breaks could also cause that.
