12v Compressor

Hey Gents,

With the parks board resorts compressors being a bit unreliable I had one fitted to my landcruiser for the trailer and vehicle tyres etc, I now need to replace that one on the new truck but I see the fixed ones are double the price of the portable ones??

Whats your views, pros cons etc and what do you use??

Few points to keep in mind:
1. Get a double head to start with
2. Compressors cut out due to heat - When unit is installed under the bonnet it is already warm (from the engine) when you start using it so cut out will be sooner than a portable one

Its your choice what you get but I prefer the double headed portable unit

I have a 72 l/m portable, the tyre inflater just reachers the trailer tyres so its ideal

I would also go for a larger pump with double heads it only costs +- R300 more

This might sound silly but why don’t you look at an aircon compressor if you would like to do a permanent fitting?  The delivery rate is very fast and can be mounted in the engine bay.  I have seen this on the south coast with some of the sardine hunters.  They just use a normal hose and a regulator.

got a double headded one and it is a machine plus it comes with extendable hose that reaches the trailer. That compressor at vidal is something els
