As far as I understand it was designed and built for the South African market. When you first look at it you would think Eish this thing has too many guides but alas it works. Better than any rod in its class.

I had an 110H converted by Enigma to a plugging/heavy spin rod and it is also awesome. For this very reason I want to convert the last two I bought to 12;6 spin and cast, I just hope they live up to the expectations, which I am sure they will.

By the way there where four models in the range and they are all excellent.

11ft heavy cast
10ft med cast
10ft spinning same blank as the 10ft cast
8ft spin

I have all of them except the 10 ft casting. (This may change as I might buy a 10ft casting for my son). The old model of course.

Ya nee, awesome rods they will remain!! Both , old and new........

Just to give an example the yellow tail in my avatar got pulled on the new exage, and it did not once feel bothered by this thing pulling on either end of it, when pulling these fish, there is full drag applied to the reel, which means the rod is really fighting the fish, the fish got pulled through reef , a few times and stood its ground quite well!!

I would however like to see a lighter rod in the exage range, but that might not make it the rod that it is! Its proven itself many times, and my 100M got pulled proper on yellowtail and a cracker and it stood its ground !

2 negatives about the rod,

1: A tad heavy
2: The tip is on the soft side a tad for my liking, would like a slightly stiffer tip.

A few of the guys I know that own the 110H have had this discussion about the new 110H vs the old 110H and although I cannot comment myself, these are a few points that were mentioned.

*A local tackle shop tested both old and new models side by side to see the bend and according to them they are identical.
*One angler stated that if you hold the blank to the sun there is a difference in the "rings" that make up the rod material, cannot remember now if they said it was wider or narrower or to which one, old or new.
*One angler stated that the wall thickness of the new blank is slightly thinner.
*Consensus was that the new flashings aren't quite that flashy for the choice of better words.

My thoughts on the 110H. It is probably just the same blank but quite suggestive that the new blanks wall thickness may well be slightly thinner according to unconfirmed reports. I prefer not to have flashy things on my rod or reel. The old 110H and the new dark coloured Torium HG suits my preference.
It is possible there is new technology in the material of the new blank which would allow for more strength with a thinner wall, making it lighter, unconfirmed view of course.

I own the 110H, 10 Foot Spinning and 8 Foot Spinning of the Exage stable. Of these I do not like the 8 Foot Spinning and only use it as a standby rod for Yellowtail on the boat. My preference is the old 10 Foot Spinning for the boat and ledges and the old 110H Multiplier setup only for the ledges.

When I was choosing rods about 7/8 years ago, I was all new to what was available, I went to great lengths buying 2 Graphcast 5 blanks and got them eyed out which took a whole season of waiting.
Had I known what a super rod the 110H was and still is back then, I would have simply bought it off the shelf and be done with trying to build a rod that isn't a whole lot better at all.

The only other rod I own is the one piece Purglas 350/3, which is a bit longer than the 110H and can throw a bit further. Just gets a bit heavy in your arms after a few hours of use, although one can state that this is a pole of note.

My 7 year old Exage is getting an upgrade with new Fuji KR guides as follows:

I don't see any difference in blank action or power.

Confirmed, the weave is different, this I immediately noticed comparing the 2. If you notice, a different color as well, compared.

As for wall thickness, this can be misleading, for us, we would check by the joint, unless you have a section cut off in the middle somewhere, and this section is normally reinforced to strengthen up the joint, so doesn't directly relate to the actual wall thickness of the blank. If there was a change in the wall thickness, of note, you would lose some of the action of the rod, and in this case there is not anything to note.

I think they are the same blank, different finishing though, maybe different material or rolling process but there is not a dip in performance between the new or old, exactly the same, as with most things, when something becomes popular, the price goes up and the quality down, but here I think it is just the price and new fittings...happy fishing!

The true test of a rod, is to PULL a BIG fish on it!!!

However they are black eyes on a black blank with a black reel, super stealthy low vis setup, no flashy muti colour flashings for me, thx.

Anyone that can contribute to the exage 110h.

I have three.

2 x original
1 x spinning

Had the two old spec stripped and redone with fuji guides. One i left original 11ft multiplier the other extended to 12ft spinning grinder guides fitted on the backbone of the rod.

The spinning grinder version is original.

What reel would one use for the extended 110h?

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.
