I am hoping to revive this thread. I am looking to get a spinning rod to use at Cape Point but the Shimano Exage mentioned here doesnt seem to be available anymore. Any recommendations on a similar rod that is readily available?

Thanks for your response and advice Dr H! I will start looking into the tackle you have recommended so I am prepared for when summer arrives, and also look at picking up that wildcard. I'm not too concerned with grumpy locals, I do a lot of work with software developers so I am immune to grumpy...

I moved back to Fish Hoek recently after having grown up here. Previously never fished but started at the beginning of this year. I don't have the patience to fish with bait but do really enjoy fishing with lures. Unfortunately I have not had much luck though, except for squid. I'm getting to...
