Thanks for the help...are there any more baits you may recomened??
All most any bait will work in September. From boiled egg to cricets, roaches, grasshoppers and snails right thru to Platties, day old chickens and fish heads/fillets. Let me explain. The cats will go on the feed after the winter months and must fatten up fast to gather there strenght/stamina for the spawn season (they do not feed actively during this time) that folllows shortly after the end of winter. The cats therefor feed on anything they can get hold of and they do so very greedily and even sometimes aggresively. After the spawn period they get much more picky of what they feed on and here is were Cheetha rightly said that you must try to find out what they feed on, on the day. I always try to take all the possible baits to the water and then start to eliminate baits that don't work on the day. This been said I always put one rod out with either a fish head or fillet and experiment with the other rods at different dephts, distances and locations/structures.What baits will work best in september??
well i'm actually going to try catching barbel at Rust in Orbi.. Which is a very busy place almost every weekend but most of the guys there go for carp.. I knows ders some decent barbels der cos i caught a few.. And its always fun to pull in a barbel when the carp are actin fussy. Do you think chumming the water is a good idea? Was thinkin bout cutting up maybe two whole sards and throwing them around my spot.. I doubt these fish have ever seen a sard head before, maybe a few freebies will encourage them to take it next time i'm down there too
a 1kg karp or grass carp head
