Yamaha outboard battery charger

I’m looking for the loom to use a 15 hp Yamaha outboard to charge a 12V battery. There is a plug on the tray of the outboard that delivers 12V AC.

As far as I know, that's not actually a charging outlet but rather an output for lighting. You will need a rectifier and voltage regulating circuit along with the loom. I was advised against it all (on the grounds of cost) when I wanted to charge a battery from my little Yam 30, but it certainly can be done.

The loom is available from Yamaha, but very expensive for what you get. No problem to rectify it to DC or even cap it at 15V, but the waterproof connection is the problem.
