Which rod to use

I recently acquired a Shimano XTEA 6000 baitrunner reel. I looked at the Shimano 13' Alivio rod but found it a bit too light.
Any suggestions on what  I can look at?

any of the new 12ft rods with super slim blanks should suit it just fine. take the reel with you and put it on different rods to see how they balance out together.

Mostly carp fishing... I'll consider something up to about R1000 +- ...
How's the Beast Master series?

The new Shimano Hyperloop is out i see, also a great stick, I use the older ones and have had no problems at all, expect to pay in the region of R900.00

Well Im looking at the sensation torpedo it feels good a and I dont think its not too bad for R600 but if you have a xtea shimano then id say you must go for some of the best quality rods to suit the reel. I saw the Gilfox signature series and it looks good. And the shimano series will not be a bad choice either.

Id say go big or dont go at all! ;)

Sidd. Do yourself a favor. Decent rod to combine with these reels would be the 12ft Waft Dominator rods. They are 2 piece rods. Each rod comes with two blanks (tips). One very flexible whip like blank and one much firmer tip. these rods are pricey but well worth the money. You can not go wrong with them.

The best rod to go for would be the 12ft shimano tribal 3lb test curve. They are however very scarce. Ontherwise the best option would be a 12ft shimano beastmaster 3lb test curve. At the moment there is NO better value for money! Don't let somone tell you these rods can't cast great distances. They will outperform ANY locally built rod on the market in all aspects!

Shimano are definitely worth looking at as well. I can not say bad things about shimano. Good quality products. Definitely top of the range. Best thing for you to do Sidd is to go to the angling shop and actually get a feel for the rods that were mentioned and see which set best suites you. That is half the fun afterall. Picking your weapons. Enjoy
